Adult ADHD Signs and Symptoms
Do you forget things at work, struggle to complete tasks or forget appointments? If so, you could be suffering from adult ADHD.
These problems can affect your work, home and relationships. Your doctor will collect information from your family and school, use checklists and rating scales to review your symptoms.
1. Inattentiveness
Inattentive ADHD patients have trouble focus on tasks and following instructions. They may miss appointments or misplace important papers. They often forget important details and make mistakes that can be costly at work or in school. These errors may be minor in the early years, but can become more serious when they are adults.

Adults and children with inattention-deficient behaviors are prone to fall through the cracks. While hyperactivity and impulse-driven ADHD symptoms are more apparent (they run around, fidget or interrupt others), those with inattention-related behavior are easily overlooked. They might have trouble staying organised and appear uninterested or not motivated to their teachers or parents. They might daydream or draw in classes. They may have trouble paying attention to sports or leisure activities, and are constantly "on the go."
Women can exhibit different signs of inattention ADD than men, making it more difficult to recognize. Women may be better at concealing their symptoms and may use tools to stay focused and organized. Women are also more reluctant to admit they are struggling to stay focused. This can hinder them from getting the treatment they require.
It is worth telling your doctor if your inattentive ADHD impacts your work, school, or relationships. They may suggest counseling to help you understand your issues and figure out ways to deal with them, and also medication. You may also request accommodations in the workplace or at school.
