What is an Upgrade Item in Genshin Impact?
Upgrade items are special items that can aid certain Pokemon to evolve. They can be obtained by spinning Pokestop discs, and also as rewards for events that are related to evolution.
They can be added to weapons, armors, trinkets and gathering tools to boost stats or effects. Some upgrades also have an extra cosmetic effect when employed.
Upgrade components
Upgrade components can be inserted into armor, weapons and trinkets to give an added bonus or effect when the equipment is used. They can be bought from vendors, looted or obtained as rewards, crafted or dropped. Upgrade components must be of a higher quality than the item they are being added to, and many also require the item to be equipped with an upgrade slot to accept them. Upgrade components can be swapped out with other upgrade components, with the exception of for inscriptions or glyphs, which can be removed or added.
The most commonly used upgrade components are gems, infusions, and enrichments. Gems are upgrade components that can be inserted into any type of equipment, and offer less benefits than other upgrade components. Infusions and enrichments can only be used on non-amulet gear and certain legendary equipment. They can be recovered from the equipment they're within by using an Upgrade Extraction Device, or by salvaging them using the Black Lion Salvage Kit or an Ascended Salvage Tool.
Other upgrade items, like inscriptions and glyphs, can be added to or removed from gathering tools. They can give a range of bonuses, such as enhancing the gather speed or adding additional materials. Inscriptions can be used to change the name of an object. For example, a sword could become a 'Fiery Sword,' by adding a Sword Pommel of fortitude or a Canthan Armor of Minor Vigor, by adding Rune of Minor Vigor.
