Preview: A short field of 5 will meet the starter in the G1 Ashland. This looks to be a 2-horse race between (3) Catherine Sophia and (4) Rachel’s Valentina. (3) Catherine Sophia has been crushing lesser rivals since her debut effort at Parx, including two G2 wins at 7 &amp; 8 furlongs this winter at Gulfstream Park. The quality of those fields is in question as no winners have emerged. She meets her toughest rival to date in (5) Rachel’s Valentina, who returns from a layoff since a solid 2nd behind the highly regarded Songbird in the Breeders Cup Juvenile Fillies. Trainer Todd Pletcher excels at bringing his stakes fillies back to racing from vacations (42% 12-5-2-1). Rachel’s Valentina has speed and tactical speed to lead of comfortably stalk lesser rivals. (5) Carina Mia and (2) Banree will vie for the lead early.
