There are 38 localities in the world called Paris. So, if you want the cheapest trip to Paris - just visit agricultural town in Belorussia or one of two villages in Russia. Today we will be talking about Paris - the capital of France.
Paris - is very old city, it was founded on Celtic settlement in the 3rd century BC and was previously called Lutetia. In middle ages Paris had great political importance. In the beginning of XVI century Paris became the capital of France and saves this stauts till now. Paris is in top-10 largset cities of Europe with population 2.2 million inhabitants. Paris is divided by river Siene: right bank is bussiness and trade part of the city and left bank is cultural, educational part.
The longest street in Paris is the rue Vaugirard, it is 4,360 meters long. The shortest one is the rue des Degrés - only 6 meters long.
There are in total 1,803 monuments and 173 museums in Paris. Eiffel Tower is one of the largest architectical constructions with 324 meters long. Is was only the entrance arch to Exposition Universelle of 1889 and was built in 2 years and 2 months, but now it is the most visited paid monument in the world. The Louvre is the most populart art museum in the world (it was visited by 9 million visitors in 2014). It has a collection of 300000 items of art and history, but only 35000 are available for visitors. In june 2016 museum was closed for 6 days because of flood, but finally none of the exhibits were injured. 
Some interesting facts:
- there are ten Statues of Liberty in France, five of which are in Paris.
- there are dozens of pianos in the train stations of Paris. The project "Play me I'm yours", is in numerous cities across the entire world. 
- with 302 stations, the Paris Métro is the 4th largest public transport system in the world.
