3 Wheel Pushchairs

If you're a fervent athlete or just looking for a more versatile stroller 3 wheel pushchairs have everything. In contrast to jogging buggies, which typically come with large wheels that are made for pavements tricycles with air-filled tyres can tackle the woods and market town cobbles in equal measure.

The large wheels, however, can make some models bulky and heavy so check that it folds up compactly and won't take up all your boot space.

Stability

Many parents are put off three wheel pushchairs because of stories of them tipping over, but this is often down to poor quality or poorly designed models. It is crucial to test the stability of a three-wheeler by physically trying it out. Also, you should consider how it is simple to shift direction or swerve using the single front wheel, and how quickly it can be done.

If you're planning to take your pushchair off-road, go for a model that has air-filled tyres (sometimes called pneumatic tyres) which can withstand rough terrain. These tyres can handle the bumps and lumps of muddy trails or gravel tracks much better than plastic moulded wheels, giving your baby an enjoyable ride. Some models have an lockable wheel on the front that can be used for rough terrain.

All-terrain pushchairs can be bulkier than standard four-wheeled buggies which is why you'll have to think about how much space they'll occupy in your car's boot and if you'll be in a position to lift it up and down stairs once folded. They can also be quite heavy to lift and move, so you should try one out in person to determine how much effort you'll have to put in to get the buggy off the ground.
