JavaScript

function productsofaandb(a,b,number) {
    var y = 0;
    for (var x = 0; x <= number; x++)
 {if (x% a === 0 || x% b === 0)
 {y = y + x;}}
    return y;}

 // What this does is start at 0, then goes through each integer up to number-1 and checks if it can be divided by a or b. If it can , it adds that number to the running tally y. I'm still hazy on what the return does exactly, but it doesn't work without it.

 alert ("the sum of all the multiples of a and b is " + productsofaandb(3, 5, 1000));

//I tried to put the values of a and b into the alert, but can't get it to work.
